Jake grinned as Mia realized where she'd met Mrs. Doors, but the expression was wiped off his face when he heard Mike mention that they should start the service soon. He glanced over at Faye, who was staring off into the distance, eyes glazed. She seemed to be spacing out a little bit too often. Maybe she had a concussion, or something?
Jake bit his lower lip, then sighed. He was probably just worrying too much, again. Faye shook her head suddenly, and looked around, eyes alert again. Jake watched silently as his sister made her way over to Mike and Gavin, green eyes tired. He hadn't slept in a long time, and it looked like dawn was coming.
"God, I'm going to just pass out on the plane to Germany..." Jake muttered, rubbing his eyes.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Faye snapped out of her thoughts, watching the redheaded girl look up at the sky. She followed Ophelia's gaze, and noticed the sky was lightening near the horizon. Was it really almost morning? Shaking her head, Faye shivered slightly as a breeze drifted past in a burst of chilly air. Faye realized that before they headed to Germany, she should probably get a jacket from somewhere. Then again, her house was like a minute's walk from here, she could probably swing by and grab some clothes that were more to her taste, after the service.
Deciding that she would do exactly that, she picked her way across the grass towards Gavin and Mike. Mike was silent, and looked thoughtful, and Gavin seemed spaced out. Frowning, Faye bumped her shoulder against Gavin's to get his attention, and asked him, "What'd Mike want?" Frowning, she added, "And how're you holding up?"

((XD I know what you mean Liz!))
Faye bumped Gavin's shoulder and said, "What'd Mike want?" Frowning, she added, "And how're you holding up?" Gavin was surprised to see Faye come over and out of nowhere to ask Gavin that of all questions.
Think of something! Make it up, come on Gavin! Gavin thought as he pretended to clear his throat. "Uh, Mike, Mike wanted to know if we could uh, stop somewhere on the way out of town." Gavin scolded himself mentally after speaking.
Oh gee, why not just hold up a sign that says, "I'm lying on it."? So Gavin spoke hopefully before Faye could catch his mess up. "Um, I am holding up okay by the way. Thanks, it's been a nightmarish few days. You've really helped me through them." Gavin said frowning and thinking over the negatives of the past few days. --------------------------------------------------------- Andrew shrugged. "You really didn't miss much. We all were unorganized morons who didn't know what to do and wasted time talking about unimportant things..." Andrew paused and thought about the things that were relevant. After a second he spoke again.
" Okay so the important things were, Kate, who you don't know, waking up, Gavin.... snapped." With that he saw Crystal's eyes get as large as saucers. "Wait, wait just listen." Crystal calmed down. "Gavin found this weird book. He has it on him somewhere. Anyways, he has dealt with slenderman longer then most of us from what I could tell. He was different for a while so I had to punch him to snap him out of it."
With that Crystal's eyes turned into a nasty glare, and she shook her head at Andrew. He rolled his eyes and continued. "Other then that I got a little mad at Mike, and he and Kate made out. I forget if there is anything else important." He thought, but nothing came to him so he shrugged.
Crystal sat there and took in everything that Andrew had just said before saying, "We'll talk about you hitting Gavin more later." And with that Andrew laughed, stood up, helped her up, and gave her a gentle kiss on the lips. "I love you Crystal. It was so boring without you." He said smiling

"Uh, Mike, Mike wanted to know if we could uh, stop somewhere on the way out of town."
Faye shot Gavin a look, raising her eyebrows. He was lying, that was for sure. He must have noticed her unease, because he quickly went on, adding, "Um, I am holding up okay by the way. Thanks, it's been a nightmarish few days. You've really helped me through them."
Faye grinned wryly, and glanced over at the makeshift gravestones before saying, "Yeah, it has been a little rough for the past few days, eh? I'm glad you were here, though." Turning around abruptly, she looked at Mike, who looked like he was deep in thought.
"Mike?" she called, " We gonna start this soon? I don't like being out in the open like this." As Faye spoke, she rubbed her upper arms with her hands uncomfortably, eyes raking over the distant treeline, still remembering the hurried dash with the Overseer earlier, the tall black shadow almost gliding through the field....
Shivering, Faye's green gaze slid over to the Overseer for a moment. She still didn't know exactly why he'd been out there, like that, in the field, but she hadn't had a chance to ask him yet. Maybe later, when they were...not out here, outside like this. Feeling uneasy, Faye shifted from foot to foot.

Mike had been deep in thought, well, for Mike, anyway. He had been on the topic of family earlier and was now revisiting it mentally. Kate's actions earlier mingled with Gavin's keepsake had made him think of his his own family. Before the incident, he and his parents had a great relationship, then it all turned south, thanks to IT. It seemed that almost everything that had steered him had been a result of ITs interference in his life. After the incident, Mike really didn't have a father figure to turn to.
Suddenly a darker thought came to him. He reemmbered the movie Conan. Suddenly, he drew several shocking parallels between it and his own life. IT shifted his life. IT never DIRECTLY harmed him. IT made an aperance later and now he had a kind of psuedo-family, even if it was only temporary. Suddenly, it seemed Slender Man was his Thulsa Doom. The only thing missing is Slender Man claiming everything Mike was, IT was the cause and that Mike should call IT "father".
He shuddered a little. Realizing you are a pawn of fate, or rather, pawn of Slender Man, is enough to put anyone on their nerves. He was wakened from his dark thoughts by Faye. He just nodded somberly.

Ophelia noticed Faye looking around in a nervous manner and followed her gaze to the treeline. What was this Slender Man? Would she know if she saw It?
She felt a faint vibration in her pocket. Her phone...
"Scuse me a moment," she muttered to the rest of the group, then stepped away, flipping it open.
Static.
A familiar giggle, almost childlike.
"I can see you. Can you see me?"
Ophelia couldn't say anything. Her mouth was dry and her throat moved as if in speech but nothing came out. The hair on the back of her neck stood up.
"When you see us...don't run."
She finally got her mouth working.
"Who are you? What the fuck do you want?" she whispered harshly.
Click.
She calmed her breathing and slipped the phone back in her pocket. Next time, she just wouldn't answer.

Gavin smiled as Faye may have given Gavin the greatest complement that he'd ever received. She was glad that he'd been there. For a moment, it made him feel unbelievably happy for some reason. Then his happiness turned to concern. While most of everyone was facing the new girl Ophelia's back while she flipped out the phone, Gavin had a clear angle view on her.
He watched her become nervous, and then whisper something, as though she sounded angry. She finally calmed herself and hung up the phone. Gavin would've gone over, but he decided against it, although he might bring it up later.
Gavin reached in his pocket and pulled out the notebook. He realized he hadn't explained to Faye. Quickly he shoved it back into his pocket. He didn't want her to know. So to be sure he got up and walked to Jake and Mia. They knew about the book. He reached Jake and whispered in his ear.
"Don't mention my notebook to your little sister, please." He leaned away and turned back to the graves without even glancing back to see his reaction. ----------------------------------------------- Crystal took Andrew's hand and smiled. "I love you too Andy." Andrew groaned sarcastically. Apparently the nickname for him now whether he liked it or not was Andy. Great, my girlfriend thinks a lot like Faye. They haven't barely spoken, and they already have something in common. Andrew thought smiling.
Then his smile disappeared, and without asking, he pulled Crystal towards the house, away from the others. "Okay, we can talk without anyone hearing us now." Andrew said, and then realized that Crystal had a perplexed look on her face. Andrew took a deep breath before explaining.
"Look, this thing is going to follow us if we stay here in the US. I-I know that you love your Aunt and Uncle, but it will follow us if we go back to Alabama. Everyone here is going to Germany, except for..... Gavin. He's going to Canada because he's got things going on that he doesn't want the others to get dragged into..... I think I wanna go to Canada too. Not staying with Gavin, we would go our separate ways after we hit the border. But just to get out of the country, but not too far. I wanted to know now, if you want to come with me." Andrew finished his somewhat long speech.
He avoided Crystal's gaze. He was expecting a flat out, "I can't go." because she loved her relatives. It was understandable, but Andrew would be hurt either way. Then Crystal's hand moved Andrew to look her in the eyes.
"Of course I want to go with you. I need you in my life Andy. I need you to survive." Crystal said smiling. Andrew was stunned, elated, and in love all at once. He leaned in and kissed her for a long time, bu not caring if anyone saw, before pulling away and saying, "I love you Crystal, so much."
She smiled and they laced each other fingers together as they walked back over to the group.

Faye smiled slightly as Mike gave her a distracted, somber nod, then frowned, slightly disturbed by the distracted, almost shellshocked look on his face. She glanced over at Gavin, to see if he'd noticed anything, but Gavin was tucking something into his pocket with a strange expression. Faye raised her eyebrows.
"What-" she started to ask, but Gavin was already moving past her, towards Jake, who was still standing with Mia. Momentarily distracted from Mike, she saw Gavin lean in to whisper something in her older brother's ear. Jake drew back, a perplexed look on his face, and leaned in to say something in a quiet voice to Gavin, but Gavin was already moving away. Confused, Faye started to walk towards Gavin and Jake, but as she cast another uneasy glance towards the forest, she caught sight of Ophelia, who was clutching a cell phone in her hand with a look of barely restrained fear on her face. After a moment, Faye saw Ophelia slip the phone back into her pocket.
Faye had to make a choice. She glanced between Gavin, Mike, and Ophelia, and decided to go to Ophelia first. Flicking blonde hair out of her eyes, Faye trotted up behind Ophelia, shoes squeaking on the dew-covered grass.
"Ophelia? What's wrong? Did you get a call, or is there a signal...or...what?" Faye asked quietly, looking warily around before refocusing her green eyes on the redheaded girl.
-------------------------------------------------------------
"Don't mention my notebook to your little sister, please."
Jake stared at Gavin, confusion written across his pale features. "What?" he quickly asked in a low voice. But, Gavin had already started to head back towards Faye, not even waiting to hear Jake's response. Jake, mind whirring, stared vacantly at his sister as she spoke to the Ophelia girl.
"What the hell do you figure that was about?" he asked Mia, absentmindedly adjusting his glasses.

Gavin walked towards Faye, but when she turned and walked to Ophelia, Gavin shrugged and moved on. He walked past Mike, his parent's graves, and over to Andrew and Crystal. Slightly taller then Andrew, but by very little, he leaned down slightly with his head to Andrew's left ear and whispered, "You make sure that you, Mia, and Jake, keep my notebook between us."
He leaned away and Andrew shook his head, saying that he understood. Crystal was utterly confused, but Gavin just smiled and moved on, back to the grave where Mike was standing, deep in thought. Gavin wasn't one to prude, so he sat down and waited for the group to get together for this funeral, that they needed to hurry through. ------------------------------------------- Crystal watched as Gavin walked over, said something to the man who had spoken to her earlier, then walk over to Andrew and her. He whispered something in Andrew's ear, before smiling at her, and walking back to his parent's final resting place. Crystal was utterly confused. Apparently, she was the only one here who hadn't spoken to Gavin. Gavin probably wouldn't explain, but her boyfriend obviously knew something. She pulled him off to the side and whispered quickly.
"Look, I don't know a lot of people here, so help me out, what was that about with Gavin? Why was Gavin being so secretive, and what is going on with him?" Crystal asked, a little frantic. Andrew however bit his lip and contemplated what to do. Finally he spoke.
"Okay, so I swore to Gavin that I couldn't tell the whole story, but in a nutshell of what I can tell you, Gavin was telling me that I can't tell anyone about.... uh.... the reason he snapped. He's probably had it the most rough out of any of us." He whispered, rubbing the back of his head.
Crystal turned and looked at the boy. They had something in common, they had both lost their parents. She whimpered slightly at this sad connection between the two. Partially because he felt Crystal didn't want to be comforted, and partially because she'd began to slowly walk towards Gavin.
I lost my parents, but I never had to see their bodies. It must have been awful for him. I can't imagine completely, but I without a doubt get where he's coming from. She thought as she reached the grave and sat down next to Gavin, wrapping her arms around her legs and resting her head on her knees.

"Ophelia? What's wrong? Did you get a call, or is there a signal...or...what?". Ophelia looked up to see Faye nearby, her oddly green eyes worried. She liked Faye--there was something kind and welcoming about her--but she didn't feel like she should trouble her with what had just happened. "Just, uh. I thought I got a call, but nothing got through," she said, biting her lip at the lie.

"I don't know, but whatever it was, she just lied about it," Mia said quietly to Jake, watching the new girl like a hawk. "She looks scared. I couldn't tell what it is she said on the phone, but she definitely looks nervous." She sighed and rubbed her forehead. "That girl... I feel bad for her. Her mother was...nice...but she didn't really seem to be that well-suited to taking care of a kid. Like she was always suspicious or something."

Mike's mental distraction was interupted right a slightly happier thought for him. He had been reliving Connan out in his head and realized that Thulsa, after making the wild claim, was quickly killed and beheaded by the great barbarian. Mike thought that as long as his thingy with IT had the same type of conclusion, he could totally live with it.
A wild smile crossed his face at the thought of lifting that black-faced fuck's head up for this family to see, then promptly smashing it to bits on the road like some left-over Halloween jack-o-lantern. A phone ringing pulled him from these happier thoughts. He saw the new girl pull out a phone and whisper in a harsh manner to it. Someone already questioned her and clearly Ophelia lied about the contents of the call.
"Lying don't become ya, 'Phelia." he said, taking a few steps in that direction. "I know ya are confused and likely afraid but ya can trust us. Even if I do get a little worked up." he finished with a grin. He shot a quick glance at Jack and Kate, then to the little cluster the rest of them had become. Well, except for the passed-out David who still had pants on his head. He might need to dust his drunk ass off and put the pants where they below later.

Gavin watched as Andrew's girlfriend, Crystal, walked over and sat next to him at the grave. He looked at her curiously, but didn't tell her to leave. Instead he looked over and glared at Andrew, who he had seen say something to Crystal, but he merely shrugged. Gavin's attention returned to the girl sitting next to him when she spoke.
"Y'know, my parents died too." Crystal said, and Gavin felt two feelings immediately. Sympathy for the girl, and pity for himself. The girl continued though. "It was a car accident, nearing its third year anniversary now. I was a wreck for the first two years, and absolute wreck." Gavin sat there and tilted his head. He felt pity, and curiosity as to why the girl was telling him this, but he didn't interrupt.
"But...." Crystal began again, and Gavin raised his eyebrows at the slight happy tone of Crystal's voice. Gavin leaned in slightly, giving away that he was slightly interested. Crystal continued, "After those two years, Andrew came into my life. He... He helped me, and made me happy. I... I don't know if I would be here, alive to tell you this story if he hadn't shown up. He truly helped me."
Gain sat there slightly shocked. Andrew had come off as a good guy, and a good friend, but never as the understanding type. Gavin shook his head slightly, but then Crystal spoke again, "Is there anyone in your life that has helped you deal with the pain of all this.
Gavin stared at Crystal for a moment, then at Faye. Until they had showed up at the house, he hadn't thought of his parents death that much. She had helped him throughout it all. Gavin smiled crookedly. "Yeah, yeah there was someone." he said not looking away from Faye. Crystal smiled, and patted his shoulder. "I'm glad." She said.

Even if I do get a little worked up." he finished with a grin. Ophelia blushed, feeling ashamed. "It's...things just don't make sense right now," she said. "I think I went to my mother's house earlier," she admitted,"and I tried to call 911. The call messed up. I don't remember anything after that." She shook her head. "Maybe I dreamed the whole thing." She paused. "And now this...well, I got a call. Someone on the other end said they were watching. 'When you see us, don't run,' it said." She coughed. "Could that have anything to do with this Slender guy?"

Andrew smiled at the sad relationship that Crystal and Gavin had. Of all the people here, besides Crystal, Gavin was probably his closest friend. He was happy to see his friend and girlfriend getting along, even through this sad of a connection. So Andrew leaned against the house near a window that had been smashed open, and looked at the scene. He played a game in his head to pass the time.
The couples here are so odd. It's me and Crystal, the "weird kids who look at the sky all day.", Gavin and Faye which is the most innocent couple here. Then we got Mia and Jake, the "I only need to know you for all of one hour to f*** you couple." And of course Mike and Kate, the strict, in-charge military couple. What an odd group.
Andrew then noticed something, a smell that he hadn't noticed before. It was reeking from the house. He had only gone in the house once and was more focused on Gavin. He walked over to the door, opened it up, and walked in. He walked forward scratching his head looking for the source of the smell. Finally he looked near the basement door and reeled slightly.
Andrew hated blood, and while Mike and Kate had picked up the bodies, they had left some blood behind. Andrew could see where the bodies once were, and where there were footprints from the people of the group. He slapped a hand over his mouth, turned and walked right back outside, shutting the door behind him.
"Oh my god." he muttered, holding back puke in his guts. "I should have known that that was it." He said, turning and puking a little in the grass. He held the rest down, but he was sickened by just the little blood that was there. He clenched his stomach and walked over to Crystal and Gavin. He laid next to Crystal, breathing unevenly, and stared at the night sky.
Clearly, they didn't respect the dead here. They walked right on the blood, I mean.... and Gavin was the first to see the blood. Hell he saw the bodies. Oh man! Andrew thought looking at Gavin. He thought he could see pain in Gavin's eyes, but dismissed it. If Gavin was in pain, at this point, he was doing a damn good job of hiding it. He's probably the bravest person here when it comes down to it. Andrew thought as his face twisted in pain, and sickness as he continued to stare at a distracted Gavin.

Faye jumped a bit when Mike came up behind her, addressing Ophelia. Faye's eyes widened exponentially when the redheaded girl admitted that she had gotten a call, and a creepy one at that. Biting her lower lip, Faye looked up at Mike, swallowing dryly.
"Do you think...it's the Slenderfreak?" she asked in an unsteady voice. "Or....I don't know, I don't imagine it can talk, right? Maybe it was an ill timed prank?" Even as Faye said the last line, she knew it wasn't true. She was just trying to make herself feel less uneasy. Bad thing was, it wasn't working. At all.
Shivering violently, Faye looked around warily, scanning the distant treelines. As she looked further down the street, her house caught her eye, and Faye shivered again. She really, really needed warmer clothes. Clearing her throat and pushing hair out of her eyes, she said quietly, "Since we probably have to wait for D to wake up before we start this thing, I'm going to go drop by my house and get something warmer really quick. Shouldn't be more than a few minutes, okay?"
Without waiting for a reply, Faye headed across the lawn, down the street, and started crossing the front lawn of her house, looking up at the house apprehensively. She hadn't been home since her mom died, last year. Jake had always been the one to come visit her, not the other way around.
------------------------------------------------
Jake eyed the new girl as Mike stepped up to talk to his sister and Ophelia, a slight grin on his face. "Yeah, she was totally lying. Good thing Mike caught her, I guess. Faye can't tell when people are lying, ever. She kinda sucks at lying, too. So I suppose it makes sense." Jake pulled absentmindedly on the edge of his jacket, looking up at the slowly lightening sky.
"Faster we get out of here and head to Germany, the happier I'll be." he muttered softly to Mia, feeling slightly uneasy. Faye must've felt the same way, as Jake saw her look around warily, wide eyed, a few moments later. She muttered something to Mike and the new girl before breaking off and heading towards their house. Jake's green eyes narrowed slightly, and he felt a twinge of worry, then shook it off. She could handle herself, he needed to stop hovering over her. She'd be fine.
Despite all his thoughts to the contrary, Jake couldn't shake the sensation that she WOULDN'T be fine. None of them would be.
